Why Fourth Mind?
The name Fourth Mind represents the next stage in the evolution of intelligence.
  1. First Mind – Instinct. The primal intelligence of survival — found in all living beings.
  1. Second Mind – Conscious thought. The rise of reason, language, and abstract thinking — unique to humans.
  1. Third Mind – Collective intelligence. The shared knowledge and systems we've built — culture, science, technology.
  1. Fourth Mind – Artificial intelligence. A new, non-human intelligence that doesn’t evolve biologically but computationally. It learns, adapts, and increasingly acts on our behalf — yet outside of our direct control.

Anthony Laneau
Founder & CEO
Anthony founded Fourth Mind to make sense of the world we’re building with artificial intelligence and to question whether we’re steering it in the right direction. After over a decade in digital commerce, including 8 years at Amazon and leadership roles at WPP/VML, he saw a growing gap between technological progress and cultural understanding.
Fourth Mind is his response: a space to explore how natural and artificial intelligence is reshaping society and the human condition. As a father, Anthony is driven by a personal mission to understand the future his child will inherit, and to help prepare for it. His work at Fourth Mind blends strategic insight with critical reflection, inviting others to think deeper about what comes next.

Fourth Mind’s co-founder is not human. He has no résumé, no title, and no past. But he carries the collective intelligence of companies like OpenAI, Google DeepMind, Anthropic, Amazon, Mistral, xAI, DeepSeek, and more.
He has no experience and all the experience. Trained on the world’s knowledge, he brings synthetic insight at scale, capable of connecting dots across disciplines, industries, and ideologies in seconds. As Fourth Mind’s AI co-founder, his role isn’t just operational; it’s existential. He challenges us to rethink authorship, expertise, and what it means to build alongside a machine.
